The One - Unknown

When the one whose hand you’re holding
Is the one one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start,
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight,
And the things you plan together
Make the whole world seem just right,
When the one whom you believe in
Puts their faith and trust in you,
You’ve found the one and only love
You’ll share your whole life through.

With You In My Heart

With you in my heart, my life is complete,
You’re the air that I breathe and the food that I eat.
You are my soulmate, the beat in my heart,
It feels like a year each second we’re apart.

With you in my heart I’m walking on air,
I can imagine your perfume and the touch of your hair.
Your beautiful eyes, so kind and so green,
The loveliest sight I ever have seen.

With you in my heart, I am brim full of pride,
It’s as though I can achieve anything with you by my side.
You’re my rock, you’re my angel, my one true love,
You’re my present from heaven, my gift from above.

With you in my heart, I love you so much,
How caring you are, my soul you do touch.
You’re a beautiful princess, a pleasure to know,
My love for you just continues to grow.

With you in my heart, I’m the happiest man on earth,
I feel God has planned this since the day of my birth.
I could never love anyone the way I love you,
I hope and I pray that you feel the same way too.

With you in my heart, through the good and the bad,
I’ll be there when you need me, when you’re hurting or sad.
In fact I’ll be there for you any night, any day,
Whenever you need me, you just have to say.

With you in my heart, it really makes my day,
With the things that you do and the things that you say.
You and Eva deserve happiness and I will ensure,
From now, only good times come knocking at your door.

With you in my heart, I hope it feels good,
And that I am caring for you the way that I should.
I will always be happy, just by the love that you give,
I will protect you and love you for as long as i live.

True love

True love is a sacred flame

That burns eternally,

And none can dim its special glow

Or change its destiny.

True love speaks in tender tones

And hears with gentle ear,

True love gives with open heart

And true love conquers fear.

True love makes no harsh demands

It neither rules nor binds,

And true love holds with gentle hands

The hearts that it entwines.

Marriage

A marriage is a promise

That two hearts gladly make

A promise to be tender

To help, to give and take

A marriage is a promise

To be kind and understanding

To be thoughtful and considerate

Fair and undemanding

A marriage is a promise

To share one life together

A love-filled promise meant to be

Kept lovingly forever

Forever

Will you love me when I’m ancient? Will you feel the same as today? Will I still make you have butterflies and feel proud in every way?

Will you still chat to me daily and try to make me laugh? Will you still give me a cuddle and sneak a peek at me in the bath?

Will you still wake up each morning and turn to me with a grin? Will you still tell me I’m beautiful and mean outside and in?

Will you always want to hold me and want me to feel blissfully safe? Will you still know what I’m thinking just by reading what lies on my face?

And if you still want to go ahead with this then here’s to our life together. So answer yes to all of these questions then there’s no doubt this will last forever.

I choose you

Life can be thought as a series of choices made. We hope to look back and smile as our memories are replayed. Those once in a lifetime moments aren’t always quick to show. But when the do materialise then somehow you just know.

I am happier now than I ever thought I would be. I love the person you are and the person you make me. We share an understanding we share our hopes and goals. Together united we are two halves of a whole.

I will never take for granted that you have given me your heart. And I gently carry it with me when we are apart. In return I give you mine to cherish and to hold. No promise is too great to make you’re worth your weight in gold.

Promises are made. Vows declared. A dream to build a life to share. I’m proud to utter the words I do. As it tells the world that I choose you.

Some Things Go Together

Pairs of things that go together

Pigeons with park

Stars with dark

Sand with sea

And you with me.

Hats with heads

Pillows with beds

Sky with blue and me with you.

Love is a temporary madness

Love is a temporary madness, It erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, It is not excitement, It is not the declaration of eternal passion. That is just being " IN LOVE" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground, And when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches, they find
that they are one tree and not two.

It’s you I like

Its you I like
Not the things you wear,
Not the way you do your hair,
But it's you I like.
The way you are right now.
The way down deep inside you.
Not the things that hide you.
Not your toys,
They're just beside you.
Its you I like.
Every part of you.
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings,
Whether old or new.
I hope that you remember
even when you're feeling blue,
That its you i like.
Its you yourself.
Its you.
Its you I like.

Today is the day it all starts

Today is a day you will always remember.
The greatest in anyone’s life. You’ll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife
It’s a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there’ll be time when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure
You’ll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken
So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It’s the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper ‘I do’
And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.

Marriage Joins Two People in the Circle of Its Love

Marriage is a commitment to life, to the best that two people can find and bring out in each other. It offers opportunities for sharing and growth that no other human relationship can equal; a joining that is promised for a lifetime. Within the circle of its love, marriage encompasses all of life’s most important relationships. A wife and a husband are each other’s best friend, confidant, lover, teacher, listener, and critic. There may come times when one partner is heartbroken or ailing, and the love of the other may resemble the tender caring of a parent for a child. Marriage deepens and enriches every facet of life. Happiness is fuller; memories are fresher; commitment is stronger; even anger is felt more strongly, and passes away more quickly. Marriage understands and forgives the mistakes life is unable to avoid. It encourages and nurtures new life, new experiences, and new ways of expressing love through the seasons of life. When two people pledge to love and care for each other in marriage, they create a spirit unique to themselves, which binds them closer than any spoken or written words. Marriage is a promise, a potential, made in the hearts of two people who love, which takes a lifetime to fulfill.

To Love Is Not To Possess by James Kavanaugh

To love is not to possess,

To own or imprison,

Nor to lose one's self in another.

Love is to join and separate,

To walk alone and together,

To find a laughing freedom

That lonely isolation does not permit.

It is finally to be able

To be who we really are

No longer clinging in childish dependency

Nor docilely living separate lives in silence,

It is to be perfectly one's self

And perfectly joined in permanent commitment

To another--and to one's inner self.

Love only endures when it moves like waves,

Receding and returning gently or passionately,

Or moving lovingly like the tide

In the moon's own predictable harmony,

Because finally, despite a child's scars

Or an adult's deepest wounds,

They are openly free to be

Who they really are--and always secretly were,

In the very core of their being

Where true and lasting love can alone abide.

He Never Leaves The Seat Up

He never leaves the seat up
Or wet towels upon the floor
The toothpaste has the lid on
And he always shuts the door!

She’s very clean and tidy
Though she may sometimes delude
Leave your things out at your peril
In a second they’ll have moved!

He romances her and dines her
Home cooked dinners and the like
He even knows her favourite food
And spoils her day and night!

She’s thoughtful when he looks at her
A smile upon his face
Will he look that good in 50 years
When his dentures aren’t in place?!

He says he loves her figure
And her mental prowess too
But when gravity takes her over
Will she charm with her IQ?

She says she loves his kindness
And his patience is a must
And of course she thinks he’s handsome
Which in her eyes is a plus!

They’re both not wholly perfect
But who are we to judge
He can be pig headed
Where as she won’t even budge!

All that said and done
They love the time they spent together
And I hope as I’m sure you do
That this fine day will last forever.

He’ll be more than just her husband
He’ll also be her friend
And she’ll be more than just his wife
She’s be his soul mate ‘till the end.

These I Can Promise by Mark Twain

I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;
I cannot promise riches, wealth, or gold;
I cannot promise you an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old.
But I can promise all my heart's devotion;
A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
A love that's ever true and ever growing;
A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

I Belong in Your Arms by Deborah Bridea

I belong in your arms
Finally, I have found a place
Into which I fit Perfectly, Safely
And securely with no doubts,
No fears, No sadness, No tears.

This place is filled with happiness and laughter
Yet it is spacious enough, to allow me
The freedom to move around,
To live my life and be myself.
This wonderful place, which I never believed really existed,
I have found Finally
Inside your arms, Inside your heart, inside your love.

The Art Of A Good Marriage' by Wilferd Arlan Peterson

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.

A good marriage must be created. In marriage the little things are the big things.

It is never being too old to hold hands.

It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.

It is never going to sleep angry.

It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.

It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not looking for perfection in each other.

It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.

It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.

It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

It is not only marrying the right partner; it is being the right partner.

Love me when i'm old

Love me when I’m old and shocking

Peel off my elastic stockings

Swing me from the chandeliers

Let’s be randy bad old dears.

Push around my chromed Bath Chair

Let me tease your white chest hair

Scaring children, swapping dentures

Let us have some great adventures

Take me to the Dogs and Bingo

Teach me how to speak the lingo

Bone my eels and bring me tea

Show me how it’s meant to be

Take me to your special places

Watching all the puzzled faces

You in shorts and socks and sandals

Me with warts and huge love-handles

As the need for love enthrals

Wrestle with my damp proof smalls

Make me laugh without constraint

Buy me chocolate body paint

Hold me safe throughout the night

When my hair has turned to white

Believe me when I say it’s true

I’ve waited all my life for you

Remembrance Poem

On this special day we remember

That loved ones are missing

We know that you are here

We feel the warmth of your smile

And can sense that you are near

And we want you to know

Your love is still our guide

Memories carried in our hearts

You are always at our side

Its so sad you will not be here

On the day James & Niamh say “I Do”

And so they say their vows today

In loving memory of you

Paths and Journeys (from Far from the Madding Crowd) by Thomas Hardy

We are all on our own paths, all on our own journeys. Sometimes the paths cross, and people arrive at the crossing points at the same time and meet each other.

There are greetings, pleasantries are exchanged, and then they move on.

But then once in a while the pleasantries become more, friendship grows, deeper links are made, hands are joined and love flies. The friendship has turned into love.

Paths are joined, one path with two people walking it, both going in the same direction, and sharing each other's journeys. They will now skip together in harmony and love, sharing joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, strengthening and upholding each other as they walk along side by side.

At home by the fire, whenever I look up, there you will be. And whenever you look up, there I shall be.

1 Corinthians 13

New International Version

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,

10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

SHORT REFLECTIONS

Today, as we celebrate MARY & JOHN’S relationship, we carry the spirit of friendship with us – a spirit of kindness, compassion, and unwavering support. Let us surround ourselves with those who lift us higher, who inspire us to be the best versions of ourselves, and who walk beside us, hand in hand, as we navigate the twists and turns of life.

In the company of true friends, we find solace in times of sorrow, strength in moments of weakness, and joy in the simple pleasures of companionship. They are the ones who lift us up when we fall, who cheer us on as we chase our dreams, and who remind us of our worth when we doubt ourselves.

Go n-éirí an bóthar libh.

Go raibh cóir mhaith gaoithe ar bhur gcúl

Go soilsí an ghrian go bog bláth ar bhur n-éadain

Go gcuire an bháisteach go bog mín ar bhur ngoirt

Go dtreoraí solas an chairdis bhur gcosán le chéile

Go saibhrí gáire páiste hallaí bhur mbaile

Go spreaga sonas bhur saolta le chéile

Aoibh an gháire oraibh

Agus loinnir an áthais in bhur súile

They say sometimes love starts with a spark,

And that might be true,

But if I were to wish you a love,

I wouldn’t wish fire for you.

You see fire is powerful,

But it burns bright then it’s gone,

It’s beautiful and warm,

But it doesn’t last long.

So instead of wishing you a love that burns,

I wish you love like a river that twists and turns

It changes and flows,

It’s powerful and free,

But it consistently finds its way back to the sea.

And so like the water

I hope your love is ever growing

Ever changing

I hope your love is powerful and free

And may you always find each other

Like the river finds the sea
